FRONT: Original art: "”I Loved You at Your Darkest (butterfly)", Watercolor, charcoal, ink. By Sarah Teresa Nelsen.
BACK TEXT EXCERPT: Not a single moment of your life have you been alone. You see, I sculpted every bit of you and planted a deep desire for me into your heart. Then, I intentionally and adoringly placed you in this world. I Am love. My birthday present to you was unconditional love. I chose this special gift for you so you would never be alone. Do you see? I have truly been with you from your first beautiful, earthly breath (continued on card)
The butterfly’s need for darkness • A caterpillar must allow the dark cocoon to surround her in order to transform. The cocoon turns her into a malleable being, and while she is in the darkness, her wings are formed. Just before she emerges, light begins to show through the darkness of the cocoon, and the brilliant colors of her wings appear. The new life—a perfect butterfly—emerges with wings soft and wet. The tired butterfly rests for a little while as her wings dry, and then she takes off and flies
Writing meditation by Sarah Teresa Nelsen—inspired by prayer and the sacred wisdom and truth of God’s Word and presence in our lives.
